67 min: Isak is played the ball but pressure from Senesi means he puts it out of play for a goal kick.
65 min: Cook delivers a good ball from the corner but Pope gets a hand to it to take it away from Bournemouth players. The hosts are quickly putting their foot on the accelerator again with Semenyo setting up Evanlison, who is a whisker away from doubling the lead. They then make their first change with Scott on for Christie.
63 min: Newcastle are slowly wrestling back the momentum in this one with some great touches from Isak but they can’t quite connect enough yet to find the back of the net. A slight commentators curse there as Bournemouth put together an attack and win a corner.
61 min: Some nervous defending from Newcastle sees the home side with the upper hand in attack again and it is Semenyo who has another shot but it is over the bar.
59 min: The corner is taken with a bullet strike but Evanilson can’t get it on target. After the set piece Newcastle make two changes with Tripper and Barnes on for Livramento and Murphy.
57 min: Bournemouth now have a free kick in a game that is quickly becoming a bit messy. The ball is popped in but Murphy sees it out for a corner.
56 min: Cook is having a long discussion with the referee and I think he has been warned after he gives away a free kick. It is on the halfway line but Newcastle take it long, Murphy crosses it into the area but no one is there to pick it up.
54 min: A fun fact, the last time Newcastle won at the Vitality Stadium Eddie Howe was still Bournemouth manager. It is Howe’s former side who still have the slight upper hand in this duel as Semenyo rockets a shot off but it’s blocked by a teammate.
53 min: Gordon wins a soft free kick but it is quite far out from goal and so Newcastle take it short and backwards. It ends with the home side winning it, it is passed to Evanlison whose resulting shot is straight at Pope. A very sloppy move from Newcastle.
51 min: Cook has a good delivery from the corner but no one can turn it goalward.
51 min: Semenyo almost doubled Bournemouth’s lead but it is superb defensive work from Burn who blocks the shot out for a corner.
49 min: Possession exchanges hands but it is Newcastle who attack next and they try to find Longstaff in the box but there’s a coming together with Senesi so the chance is gone. However, Newcastle keep pushing and they win a corner from Senesi’s boot. Gordon takes it short but eventually it comes it, it drops to Burns’ head which squares it but Bournemouth clear.
47 min: Pope is forced into a poor clearance as he came out of the area, if he didn’t clear that Evanlison would have had an open goal to aim at.
Back underway: Bournemouth 1-0 Newcastle
So can Bournemouth take all three points? Or will Newcastle spoil the anniversary party? All to come.
In the other 2pm BST kick-off, Chelsea are drawing with Wolves 2-2 at half-time. Nicolas Jackson put the Blues ahead after two minutes but Matheus Cunha put the home side level. But just before half-time Cole Palmer restored Chelsea’s lead but against Wolves pegged them back with a goal from Jørgen Strand Larsen. A complete goal fest!

Half-time: Bournemouth 1-0 Newcastle
So far all of the promising play in the opening 15 minutes Newcastle are 1-0 down after a terrific play from Semenyo saw Tavernier tap home to put the side agead. Semenyo is definitely the spark Bournemouth needed and they will want to keep alight for the second half.
45 + 3 min: Newcastle are allowing Bournemouth so much space at times in attack, Tavernier managed to have enough time to take several touches before being engaged by a defender. It is giving a tone that both teams are winding down the clock for half-time.
45 + 1 min: There will be three minutes added.
45 min: The game’s pace has slowed significantly in the last few minutes, potentially by Newcastle’s design as Bournemouth were enjoying most of the ball. The home crowd not too happy with a tackle on Cook not giving their side a free kick , boos ringing around the ground, but Cook is okay to continue.
43 min: Trippier has his head in his hands as he sits on the bench for this one, there has been a lot of chatter about his future at the club but Eddie Howe said he was a little surprised by reports. The manager may also be left a bit stunned at half-time if his side does not manage to land a punch here.
41 min: Bournemouth have done what Newcastle could not, scored while on top. Semenyo the key figure in the attack, he caught Joelinton out and set up Tavernier. Bournemouth remain the dominant team as we creep towards half-time.
39 min: VAR may want to have a look at this one, Tavernier may be offside? No he’s not, on the replay he times his run to absolute perfection.
GOAL! Bournemouth 1-0 Newcastle (Tavernier, 37)
Semenyo steals the ball and feeds it into the box. Tavernier is there to tap home.
36 min: Kluivert is found on the left and pops in a good cross but Pope reads it well to pluck it out of the air. Bournemouth are definitely on top now and they need to capitalise with a goal.
34 min: Not yet. Cook and Tavernier stand over the set piece which is well within range. Tavernier takes it and it whacks the wall, the way the ball comes down is too risky for Pope who hits it out of play for a corner. It’s taken well and it comes in but Pope punches away.
32 min: Kerkez is down here and he looks to be in some pain, it looks like he had his hand accidentally stepped on – after a while he is okay to continue. Bournemouth set up an attack next and Christie wins a free kick in a great position, can this break the deadlock?
30 min: Bournemouth win a free kick in a good position, Cook takes it but Kelly clears. Semenyo does well to win it back and create another change but once again Newcastle do enough to quell the danger.
28 min: Bouremouth are having a sustained and patient build-up in attack here and there is a sharp intake of breath rippling around the ground as Semenyo takes a long range effort which smacks the bar. Wow, closest anyone has come to breaking the deadlock.
26 min: Isak and Gordon do really well to keep an attack going after being swarmed by defenders but it then stalls and they go all the way back to Pope.
24 min: Gordon is fouled by Semenyo, who then helps him back to his feet. It results in a free kick and Newcastle take it short and it does not lead to anything.
23 min: Christie is on the deck holding his eye after being caught by Guimaraes, Newcastle fans can be heard booing as the Bournemouth star gets back to his feet.
21 min: Joe Pearson has emailed and has given an update on the other 2pm kick-off between Wolves and Chelsea:
Since it’s just past 9 here, I am having a Blueberry Oat Breakfast Bar (sort of a large soft cookie) and a cup of iced mocha. On the football front, I am watching Wolves v Chelsea, and the blues are already one up thanks to a 2nd minute Nicolas Jackson goal.
The snack sounds amazing, I might just have to take that idea for next time. And thank you for the update on the other match. Back to this one, Bournemouth are growing into the match.
20 min: Evanilson just came so close to opening the scoring but a great save from Pope denied him. Newcastle then counter and Isak squares a great ball but no one is there to pick it up.
18 min: Bournemouth’s attack feels like lightning in a bottle, while Newcastle’s is a complete storm washing over the hosts. Neither are yet to find a way through but Newcastle look the ones far more likely to score at the moment.
17 min: Bournemouth launch their first promising attack and Kerkez does so well to keep it alive in the left corner but his subsequent cross does not find a teammate. Bournemouth do look danger when they have frontfoot ball.
15 min: Christie gets a yellow card after pulling Guimaraes backwards and Newcastle have a free kick. Guimaraes takes it but it’s headed away, Bournemouth can’t quite clear it far enough but a foul from Burn sees them able to calm things down.
13 min: Longstaff has remained on the ground after that corner but he is back to his feet after a break in play. The break does not take the sting out of Newcastle’s attack, which has been quite relentless so far, as Krafth finds Isak with a long ball. He takes a shot but it’s saved, I think he would have been offside regardless.
12 min: Newcastle’s corner is short again, they must see something they can exploit there, but the cross is seen out for another corner. The set piece is taken by Gordon and it’s popped into the area but Burn can’t turn it towards goal.
10 min: Evanilson wanted a free kick there after a tackle from Joelinton but it isn’t given and Newcastle immediately go on the attack. The ball comes into the box but Zabarnyi sees it out for a corner.
9 min: The corner is taken short but eventually it comes in for Gordon but he skies it.
8 min: Newcastle win a free kick on halfway and they take it short, a surprise for the rest on the pitch who were waiting in the box for a long pass. The tactic does not pay off for the visitors who are forced backwards. But they keep their attack on the move and they find Isak on the edge of the box, it finds Gordon but his effort is over the bar, takes a touch and they have a corner.
6 min: The Bournemouth crowd get in full voice as Evanilson makes a great run but he gives away possession after a tackle on Krafth bringing him to ground. A first taste of Premier League action for Evanilson today.
4 min: A high press from Newcastle which almost sees Isak get on the ball in the area but Bournemouth do enough to take it away from him. Both teams still finding their feet in this one.
2 min: Newcastle start strongly with a ball down the right attempting to unlock Murphy’s threat but it goes just beyond him to stall the attack.

Why should this fan fear the consequences?
The image of the monkey’s paw derives from a 1902 short story by WW Jacobs, the motto of which is to be careful what you wish for – or at least that if you are granted three wishes, to be extremely precise in making them. For Newcastle, it may still be fine. A couple of astute signings before the window closes could be enough to get them back into Europe and the revenues that brings may be enough for slow and steady growth towards super-club status that is compliant with the profitability and sustainability rules (PSR).

Bournemouth are celebrating the club’s 125th anniversary today with multiple events and interviews happening at the ground. Club legends like Steve Fletcher, Sean O’Driscoll and Harry Redknapp will be in attendance. Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has called it “fitting” that Eddie Howe is the opposition manager for the occassion: “It’s probably very fitting that Eddie comes with Newcastle. He is a big part of the history of the club. 125 years is a lot of years, a lot of history. It is special to be part of such a special moment.”

“We are not fooled by how difficult this game will be, we need to be better on the road then we were last season. We need to go into this game with the right frame of mind. When you turn up for a game, you are there to win. We have to try and start well; we have to try and get momentum in our season.”

Hello and welcome to Bournemouth v Newcastle, or as some call it the Eddie Howe derby. The Newcastle manager is a Bournemouth club legend after being a player and manager for the side.
During his time at Bournemouth as a manager Howe saw them promoted from League Two all the way to the Premier League. He usually receives a heroes welcome, with a standing ovation, and the boss will be hoping that is all the cheering Bournemouth fans will be doing this afternoon.
The last time the two teams played one another at the Vitality Stadium Bournemouth won 2-0. But Newcastle arrive wanting to continue their perfect start to the season, in terms of results after their 1-0 win over Southampton in the opening round.
Bournemouth came away with a point from their 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest in round one so they will be hoping to add to their point tally. Before we dive into more analysis of this one, let’s have some team news before kick-off at 2pm BST.
