Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav on Wednesday said developed countries should take the lead in climate action and provide financial and technological support to help developing nations combat climate change. He said that India has led global climate action over the past decade under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, with other countries also making contributions. “Addressing climate change is a collective responsibility, but developed nations must take the lead and provide financial and technological support,” Yadav said at an event organised by Times Now.

MUDA chairman Marigowda resigns amid escalating political row
The Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) chairman K Marigowda quit on Wednesday, amid a row over irregularities in allotment of sites to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s wife Parvathi B M. He submitted his resignation from the post to the Urban Development Department Secretary. “I have resigned following directions from the CM. Also, as I had health issues, I have resigned…there was no pressure on me, as I had health issues I have resigned,” Marigowda, who is considered close to Siddaramaiah, said.

Plane carrying stranded AI passengers from Iqaluit airport lands in Chicago
The Canadian Air Force aircraft is ferrying 191 stranded passengers of an Air India flight from Iqaluit airport has landed in Chicago. In a statement on Wednesday, Air India said passengers of flight AI127, which was diverted to Iqaluit in Canada on October 15, are on their way to their destination — Chicago. The flight that was diverted on Tuesday had 211 people, including 20 crew members, onboard.
Nayab Singh Saini stakes claim to form govt in Haryana
BJP leader Nayab Singh Saini met Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya at the Raj Bhavan here on Wednesday and staked claim to form the next government in the state, party sources said. Former Karnataka Minister B Nagendra, who walked out of the jail on Wednesday, alleged that he was pressurised by the ED to name Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his deputy D K Shivakumar in the multi-crore scam in Karnataka Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation. He also charged the ED (Directorate of Enforcement) with arresting him under pressure from the BJP as part of a conspiracy to destabilise the Congress government. A special court here on Monday granted bail to the Congress MLA, who was arrested by the ED in connection with the scam.
