Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy here on Thursday invited former Chief Minister and BRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) to participate in the ‘Praja Palana’ Vijayotsavalu organised on the occasion of completion of one year in office by the Congress government.
Appealing to everyone to participate in the celebrations at Hyderabad Tank Bund and make it a grand success, he said the BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and other officials will invite KCR specially. He was speaking after launching “Indiramma houses Mobile App” at Secretariat here today.
Revanth Reddy said KCR returned Telangana with a mounting debt burden of Rs.7 lakh crore. Telangana was a surplus budget State at the time of formation. The previous government sold out thousands of acres of lands and also seized lakhs of acres of lands owned by the poor. KCR pushed Telangana into a deep financial crisis during the 10 year BRS regime.
However, the People’s government was moving forward by correcting the blunders and solving problems one by one. The Opposition should give suggestions and advice to the government during a crisis.
During the Telangana movement, there was a situation where BRS MLA T Harish Rao met former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy for funds for the development of the constituency in united Andhra Pradesh.
During the 10 year BRS rule, KCR did not meet anyone and created a situation where the ruling party considered the Opposition as an enemy. The BRS chief should give suggestions to the government to move the State forward in the development. The government does not mean just 65 MLAs and it has a strength of 119 legislators.
Telangana people gave representation to everyone in the assembly. “People will be happy when every member fulfills their responsibilities. KCR should also fulfill the responsibility as the leader of the Opposition. Is it good for Telangana to keep the chair empty? Opposition leaders should come to the Assembly and give suggestions and question the government and put the ruling party in a tight spot,” he said.
“We have no differences. KCR is older in age and experience. Maintain seniority. The BRS leader should calm down his children when they create nuisance. Don’t you have the responsibility to control them? The Opposition leader should use his experience for the people,” he said.
Appealing to the Opposition leader to think whether it is good to instigate two leaders against the government like Marichudu and Subahu in Ramayana.
Despite having political differences, Tamil Nadu leaders fight together on State issues. They fight in the Parliament and get funds for the State. “Why is that spirit lacking in Telangana? People gave a mandate whether the opposition liked it or not. Leaders should respect the people’s verdict. The Nizam ruler himself bowed to the people’s mandate,” Revanth Reddy explained.
Referring to one year successful rule of Congress government, Revanth Reddy, “We are entering the second year of Telangana rising with the full support extended by everyone during the celebrations of completion of first year of Congress rule in the State. Poor people’s dream is to live with self respect. Former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi strove hard to fulfill the dreams of poorer sections.”
Indira Gandhi introduced the Agriculture Ceiling Act and distributed lands to the poor. She recognised the ownership of agricultural land enhancing the self respect of the poor and the credit goes to her. Indira Gandhi distributed about 35 lakh acres of land to the poor in Telangana alone. A great leader who awarded land rights to the poor.
“There are villages without temples, But we can proudly say there is no village without Indiramma house. Indira Gandhi is a distinguished leader who fulfilled the dream of owning a house by the poor.
The Indiramma housing scheme was launched at the cost of Rs.4000 per house and it reached Rs.1.21 lakh during YSR rule. The People’s government increased the cost of the house construction to Rs 5 lakh,” he explained.
Revanth Reddy further explained that the government adopted new technologies to ensure no errors in the implementation of the ambitious housing scheme with a big goal. Launching the app with a great intention of providing Indiramma houses to the deserving, he said the government simplified the procedures and provided convenience to beneficiaries.
The beneficiaries are provided an opportunity to build a house according to their affordability. Stating that administrative sanction was accorded to 4.50 lakh houses in the first year and 3,500 houses have been allotted to each Assembly constituency, he said the first priority will be given to the poorest of the poor in the beneficiaries list.
Priority will be given to dalits, tribals, agricultural laborers, sanitation workers, disabled people and transgenders. The government will consider ITDA areas as special and release special funds for them. The Congress government provided 25.4 lakh Indiramma houses between 2004 and 2014.
“My government released Rs.195 crore funds to complete the works of 2 BHK houses sanctioned during the BRS rule. Now, the opposition BRS leaders are claiming the completion of pending works. The BRS leaders built Pragati Bhavan and farm houses and allocated crores of rupees for party offices. BRS leaders gave priority to their selfishness and left the poor in lurch. BRS rulers did not give double bedroom houses but increased belt shops,” he added.
